Interesting Stories Behind Celebrities’ Tattoos

Here we have rounded up celebrities tattoos with interesting stories or event behind them.

Tattoos are more than a body of art. In fact, they are a way to express yourself, tell others about your beliefs, your attitude and above all your aesthetic sense. No wonder that celebrities are fond of them. Even some of them have dozens of tattoos to flaunt their ideology, beliefs and life struggle. While hundreds of showbiz stars may have tattoos, here we have listed those who have something interesting, something strange behind their ink. Here we go.

Kendall Jenner’s MEOW Tattoo:

One of the highest paid supermodels of our time, Kendall Jenner got inked her lower inner lip with the word “MEOW”.

Why meow?

On the Ellen DeGeneres Show, she replied,” I was drunk! I was not thinking clearly. She further said that it was the first that came to her mind. “I don’t know, just my drunk thoughts.”

Good thing is that the tattoo didn’t hurt her much as she said,” It’s just like fatiness but it’s not, like, bone hurts really bad.”

Kendall Jenner also admitted that it was not her very first tattoo as she got a white “dot” as it was common among her friends.

Emma Watson’s Times Up:

The Harry Potter actresses got a cursive tattoo in honor of the #TimesUp movement on her arm as she appeared in Oscars 2018. But the tattoo was trolled for a grammar error. The ink has a missing apostrophe, displaying “Times Up” rather than “Time’s Up”.

However, the actresses played it cool when she tweeted

“Fake tattoo proofreading position available. Experience with apostrophes is a must.”However, many people backed her justifying that there is no apostrophe in the shortened hashtag of the phrase. And Oxford educated Watson was supposed to be aware of this.

Miley Cyrus’s Dog Tattoo:

Miley Cyrus’s body is teamed with the tattoos that are either close to her heart or being inspired by something important. She has a meaningful tattoo to support vegan movement while her “babies” tattoo is all about her “SNL” performance. One of her tattoos is dedicated to Liam Hemsworth’sfavorite spread.

Miley Cyrus’s fondness for her pets has got much press over a time which has been translated into tattoos. The latest one is the portrait of her pitbull Mary Jane.

Justin Beiber’s “Better At 70”:

Justin Beiber is generally thought as a reckless person who doesn’t care about future. After all, he is surrounded by controversies, scandals, headlines, luxuries, and worldwide fan base.

However, his thigh tattoo “BETTER AT 70” is a great contradiction to what he is known for. He posted his new tattoo at Instagram explaining—

"I look back at a lot of things in my life, mistakes, insecurities, and although I have felt I've wasted a lot of time it also makes me want to be better faster and longer! For me personally, I want to work every day to be BETTER AT 70."

The new tattoo can be a reflection of his maturity. What do you think?

Ariana Grande’s Bee Tattoo:

The worker bee stands for the industrious spirit of Manchester (England). It is even incorporated into the city’s coat of arms. But this is not the only reason that inspired Ariana Grande and her Dangerous Woman Tour to get inked with a bee tattoo. On May 22, 2017, The Manchester Arena was bombed by a suicide bomber just before a concert by Ariana Grande, leaving 22 people dead who were on the way to the concert.

She got a bee tattoo behind her ear to commemorate the victims and survivors like many citizens did.

Demi Lovato’s Lion Tattoo

Demi Lovato has amassed 19 tattoos and each showcases her beliefs and struggles throughout her life. But it is her lion tattoo inked on her left hand that attracts eyes. She got it in August 2017 after attending the Time 100 event. This tattoo carries multiple meaning. Firstly, it is her astrological sign Leo which is known for strength and dominance. It can also be associated with her song “Lionheart”, which is about finding strength through love and was partly inspired by her dead dog Buddy, whom she called little lion heart. Demi has expressed that if she were any beast she would be a lion and if she could tame animal it would have either a lion or a unicorn.

And her tattoo artist is none other than the celeb’s favorite, Bang Bang, who has inked showbiz stars like Rita Ora, Rihanna, Miley Cyrus, Cara Delevingne, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry. Demi has also got “Now I’m a warrior” tattoo on her shoulder tattoo from Bang Bang in 2013

Want to get a tattoo like your favorite star?

Yes, you can. But these celeb’s tattoos have been inspired by their life events or beliefs. If you are a diehard fond, then you can get the tattoos like them. However, the game is tough if you want to get a celebrity inspired tattoo that matches your aesthetic or close to your heart for a special reason.

Whatever tattoo you get, make sure to get it done by a professional tattoo artist. One more thing—tattoos do hurt. If pain bothers you, then using a topical anesthetic like numbing cream is your savior. It desensitizes the skin for a couple of hours so that you don’t feel anything happening to your skin.
