Muscle pain or myalgia occurs in any of the muscles in the body. It is caused by injury, overuse, and infections of the soft tissues or inflammatory conditions. Chamomile is loaded with several therapeutic properties, making it an efficient remedy for body pain and muscle spasms as well. It contains more than 30 flavonoids with anti-inflammatory properties. Chamomile oil is generally available as Roman chamomile oil (Anthemisnobilis) and German chamomile oil (Matricaria chamomile). Both forms are analgesic in nature, thereby providing relief from body pain and headaches.

Deep blue German chamomile oil is considered suitable for inflammatory muscles condition due to its strong anti-inflammatory conditions. Massage the area with chamomile to get quick relief.

Cold Pack:

Cold pack is one of the easiest ways to relax muscle pain at home. It works by tightening the blood vessels to restrict the blood flow to that area, thereby minimizing the swelling and pain messages being transmitted to the brain as well. It is an effective therapy for damaged muscle tissues that are inflamed and swollen as well.

Using a cold pack is simple. Just wrap handful of ice cubes or frozen vegetables in a thin towel and compress it against the affected area for 15-20 minutes for every 4-6 hours. Avoid using direct ice.

Heat Therapy:

Heat therapy does exactly opposite to cold compress, as it promotes the blood flow to sore and constricted muscles. It contains several analgesic properties as well. It is useful remedy for chronic muscle pain and sore joints, especially in arthritis.

Heat therapy is also beneficial in lower back pain as it releases the blood vessels of the muscles covering the spine and stretches the surrounding soft tissues.

You can take heat therapy by soaking the affected body part in hot water for 15-20 minutes. Electric heating pads and moist heat from hot baths and steamed towels are also used.

Cherry Juice:

Study shows that drinking cherry juice fights the inflammation and muscle pain. They contain antioxidant anthocyanins, which protect cells from alternation. Plus, they are loaded with anti-inflammatory properties that reduce the swelling in muscles. You can take it as raw juice or in supplement form.


Turmeric is effective herb to minimize the muscle pain, thanks to the presence of curcumin and ibuprofen. Mix 1 tbsp. of turmeric powder to a cup of heat milk and take it twice in a day.

Alternatively, you can prepare the paste by taking 1 tbsp. each of turmeric powder, lemon juice and salt. Apply the paste to the affected parts. Leave it for 30 minutes and then rinse it off with warm water.


Ginger is a natural anti-inflammatory agent and boosts blood flow, thereby relieving muscle pain. According to one study, daily consumption of raw ginger and heated ginger can ease muscle pain.

Wrap four tbsps. of freshly grated ginger in a tightly sealed cotton cloth or bag. Dip it in hot water for nearly one minute. Let it cool and then place it on the affected area for nearly 15 minutes. Repeat the process several times a day. Or you can take three cups of ginger tea daily.
