What is contact dermatitis?

  • Red rashes
  • Formation of blisters or wheals
  • Itchy burning skin

In case you are already aware of the recent contact with an irritant, quickly wash the area with soap and water. But if it has already set in, you can go for a wash or dip in a weak acid solution. This will help ease the itching sensation.

What if blistering occurs? You can opt for colloidal oatmeal, calamine lotion, and oral antihistamines to reduce itching as well. And amidst all of these treatments, one thing you need to remember when suffering from contact dermatitis is not scratch the area. This will aggravate the skin condition.
